Heavy snowfall in the high-altitude stretches of Uttarkashi has prompted an extensive aerial rescue operation, with helicopters being deployed to bring stranded trekkers to safety. While one group has been completely evacuated, efforts remain underway to reach those affected in another challenging mountain zone.

Rescue teams have successfully evacuated all 29 trekkers who were stranded in the Auden Col area following snowfall. Helicopters were used for the operation, allowing the trekkers to be moved safely from the difficult high-altitude terrain.

Operations are still in progress in the Kalindi Pass area, where snowfall has also affected trekkers. Helicopter assistance continues to play a key role as teams work to carry out safe evacuations amid challenging conditions in the upper reaches.

With the Auden Col evacuation completed, the focus of the ongoing operation has now shifted to Kalindi Pass. Relief and rescue teams continue their efforts to ensure that trekkers affected by the snowfall are brought out safely.
