New Delhi, September 14, 2026 India’s semiconductor push is moving from policy to production, with SEMICON India 2026 bringing together major global and Indian players from across the chip and electronics industry. Companies including ASML, Applied Materials, Infineon, NXP, Tata Electronics, Micron, IBM Research, Lam Research, CG Power, Advantest and Tokyo Electron are among the key industry participants. Under the Semicon India Programme, the government has approved 12 semiconductor projects to build a strong and resilient domestic ecosystem. Three projects approved under Semicon 1.0 have already started commercial production. The Union Cabinet has also cleared Semicon 2.0, built around six major pillars to further accelerate sectoral growth. The government is simultaneously strengthening semiconductor design and innovation. Advanced electronic design automation tools have been made available to more than 400 academic institutions and 105 startups, while 24 startups have been approved under the Design Linked Incentive Scheme to develop semiconductor products and applications. With AI, advanced computing, electric mobility and telecommunications driving global chip demand, India is positioning itself as a trusted semiconductor destination. The global market, valued at around USD 796 billion in 2025, is projected to cross USD 2 trillion by 2030. India’s semiconductor demand is expected to rise from around USD 50 billion to nearly USD 103 billion during the same period. SEMICON India 2026 aims to turn this growing momentum into deeper investment, technology partnerships, innovation and talent development, strengthening India’s position in global semiconductor supply chains and advancing its ambition to become a major manufacturing hub.
