Heavy rainfall across Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) on Friday exposed the impact of intense monsoon showers on urban infrastructure, with waterlogged roads and prolonged traffic congestion disrupting normal life. As the weather conditions deteriorated, authorities remained on alert while commuters across the region struggled with delays and restricted movement.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for Delhi until 8 pm as relentless rain continued throughout the day. The persistent showers led to widespread waterlogging and traffic snarls across several parts of the city. Major routes, including Mehrauli-Badarpur Road, ITO, Wazirabad Road, Patel Road, Rohtak Road, Shankar Road, the Kirti Nagar stretch, the Delhi-Jaipur Highway, Peeragarhi, and Shaheen Bagh, witnessed significant congestion due to the adverse weather.

The heavy rain also disrupted the daily routine of office-goers, with several commuters reporting that they were unable to book cabs for hours, leaving them stranded at their workplaces. Water accumulation was reported in Delhi's Chhatarpur Farm area and at Mehram Nagar near Terminal 1, slowing traffic movement and creating further inconvenience for motorists.

Visuals from National Highway 48 (Delhi-Jaipur Highway) near Shankar Vihar showed long queues of vehicles caught in traffic. The road connecting Gurugram to Dhaula Kuan also experienced congestion stretching several kilometres as rainfall continued unabated. The day's events underscored the widespread impact of heavy monsoon showers on transport and mobility across the Delhi-NCR region, highlighting the challenges posed by extreme weather conditions.
