Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for restraint and forgiveness after abusive slogans were directed at him during student protests has brought relief to the family of a minor girl accused in the case. The girl had earlier apologised to the Prime Minister with folded hands in a viral video message. Her mother, speaking emotionally to PTI, said PM Modi’s forgiveness had given her daughter “jeevandaan (a new life)” and appealed to him to have the FIR against her withdrawn as well.

“PM Modi has shown greatness by forgiving a daughter of the country who had used such dirty words. I thank him with folded hands. Today is her new birth. The prime minister has given her the biggest gift of jeevandaan (a new life),” the mother said. She urged PM Modi to intervene in the matter so her daughter could move forward peacefully.

Noida Police had registered a ‘Zero FIR’ last week following a complaint over the remarks made against the Prime Minister. The FIR identified the accused as Ruchika Singh, 25, but her mother said the name and age mentioned in the document were incorrect. “How can we say we are ashamed? We are aware of our mistake. I request Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, please remove the FIR filed against her under the wrong name and age, so she could live in peace. Now she is under your supervision,” she said.

The mother also appealed to PM Modi to restrict Instagram and Facebook access for children below 18, saying minors can be vulnerable to manipulation and exploitation. “My humble request to PM Modi is that Instagram and Facebook should be stopped for children under 18. They should be allowed to study only. They should not be allowed to protest sites. These children can be easily taken advantage of. Small children don't know anything about the world or respecting elders,” she added. PM Modi had earlier said in an Instagram reel that “abuses never solve anything” and urged society to guide students rather than punish them.
