Security concerns have intensified in Jammu and Kashmir after two migrant workers were killed in a targeted terrorist attack in Kulgam district. The incident took place at Kellam village on Friday evening, amid heightened security arrangements for the ongoing Amarnath Yatra.

According to police sources, terrorists opened fire on two non-local workers. One victim died at the scene, while the second succumbed to his injuries during treatment at a hospital. The deceased were identified as Deepak and Bhupender, both residents of Chhattisgarh. Following the attack, security forces launched a major cordon and search operation to locate the assailants.

The attack is the second targeted terrorist incident reported in Kashmir within the last 10 days. A week earlier, a policeman was killed in a targeted attack in Anantnag. Following that incident, a large-scale police crackdown was conducted across Kashmir, resulting in more than 3,000 "suspects" being detained.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah warned following the mass detentions that "it may only worsen the situation". The latest killings have occurred during the Amarnath Yatra, with 670 additional companies of paramilitary personnel deployed to strengthen security alongside the existing arrangements across Kashmir.
