CRPF's Dual Role Strengthens Safety During Amarnath Yatra 2026

New Delhi,  July 8, 2026

As the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026 continues, security agencies are not only safeguarding the pilgrimage but also extending essential humanitarian support to devotees. With thousands of pilgrims travelling through Jammu and Kashmir, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has reinforced its role by combining stringent security measures with round-the-clock medical assistance, ensuring that the annual yatra remains safe, organised and accessible.

To maintain uninterrupted movement along National Highway-44, CRPF personnel are conducting continuous Road Opening Party (ROP) operations. At the same time, the 84th Battalion has set up a 24x7 Mobile Health Camp at Chanderkote in Ramban district under the supervision of Commandant N. Ranbir Singh. Led by Senior Medical Officer Dr. Anantha Krishnan, the medical team, supported by paramedical staff, an Advanced Life Saving ambulance and emergency medicines, has been providing immediate healthcare services to pilgrims and local residents. According to Dr. Krishnan, the team has been stationed at the Chanderkote Langar point since July 2, offering emergency oxygen support and treating nearly 20 to 30 pilgrims every day for ailments such as fever, dehydration and high-altitude sickness, while highlighting the effective coordination between the District Administration, Jammu and Kashmir Police and the CRPF.

Pilgrims from different parts of the country have appreciated the arrangements made during the yatra. Many devotees said they experienced smooth security checks, prompt medical assistance and efficient registration facilities, while also praising the coordinated efforts of the CRPF, Army, BSF and local administration. Several pilgrims encouraged others to ignore misleading information circulating on social media and instead experience the well-managed pilgrimage firsthand.

The 57-day Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, which began on July 3, is being monitored through digital surveillance and RFID-based tracking systems to strengthen crowd management and enhance pilgrim safety. Scheduled to conclude on August 28, coinciding with Raksha Bandhan, the pilgrimage continues under a comprehensive security and support framework designed to ensure a safe and comfortable spiritual journey for devotees.
