Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday inaugurated the Samrat Samprati Museum at Koba Tirth in Gandhinagar on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti. After the inauguration, he toured the museum galleries and viewed a wide collection of rare artefacts that highlight the history and evolution of Jainism. The visit formed part of his official engagements in Gujarat during the day.

The museum is located within the Mahavir Jain Aradhana Kendra campus and is named after Samrat Samprati, the grandson of Emperor Ashoka, who is known in Jain tradition for promoting non-violence and spreading the faith. Developed as a major centre for preserving Jain heritage, the museum aims to present a detailed and structured understanding of the religion and its cultural contributions.

Spread across seven distinct wings, the facility offers a chronological journey through the development of Jainism and its influence on Indian civilisation. The galleries feature over 2,000 rare artefacts, including stone and metal idols, traditional Tirth Patta and Yantra Patta, miniature paintings, silver chariots, coins, and ancient manuscripts. These exhibits provide insight into centuries-old traditions and philosophical practices associated with Jainism.

The museum also integrates modern digital and audio-visual technologies to create an engaging and immersive experience for visitors, scholars, and researchers.
