PNG Gas to Reach Every Home in Varanasi, Connections to Be Provided Within a Week: Ravindra Jaiswal
Varanasi | 15 March 2026
Residents of Varanasi will soon receive domestic pipeline gas directly in their kitchens as the government accelerates the implementation of the PNG (Piped Natural Gas) scheme. State Minister Ravindra Jaiswal has directed officials to ensure that gas connections reach households quickly and efficiently. He emphasized that the process should be completed within a week of receiving applications.
To speed up the rollout, special camps have been set up at all eight zonal offices of the Varanasi Municipal Corporation. These camps are allowing citizens to apply for domestic pipeline gas connections and receive detailed information about the scheme, including the application process and required documents. On Sunday, Minister Jaiswal visited the zonal office in Nadesar to inspect the arrangements and review the progress of the campaign.
Officials informed that around 102 kilometres of high-pressure steel pipeline has already been laid to support the main gas distribution system. In addition, nearly 1,450 kilometres of low-pressure plastic pipeline has been installed across the city and nearby areas to ensure that gas reaches individual homes safely and efficiently.
During the inspection, the minister also encouraged residents to take advantage of the scheme and apply for connections. Authorities said that citizens can also register complaints or seek assistance through the helpline numbers 7268071339 and 9454535384 provided by officials from GAIL (India) Limited, which is helping manage the gas supply network in the city.
