Disha Patani has completed 10 years in the Hindi film industry, marking a milestone that also reflects how deliberately she has shaped her career. Since entering Bollywood with MS Dhoni: The Untold Story in 2016, the actress has moved between romance, action, drama and large-scale commercial projects rather than allowing herself to be identified with a single kind of character.
To commemorate the anniversary, Disha revisited the beginning of her journey on social media. She shared a photograph with late actor Sushant Singh Rajput from MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, in which she played Priyanka Jha. Reflecting on the past decade, she wrote, “Grateful to have completed a decade into this journey of exploring myself. Blessed to have lived through these beautiful characters that’ll stay with me forever and for everyone who gave me the opportunity to do so. Priyanka will always be close to my heart,”
Disha’s film choices over the years have reflected her intention to avoid being typecast. After playing a cricketer’s girlfriend in her debut film, she took on a more action-driven role in Baaghi 2. She later appeared in the romantic thriller Malang and featured in Kalki 2898 AD, where her appearance generated considerable attention. Speaking about the philosophy behind her career, she said, “I don’t want to be defined by one role or image".
That approach remains visible in her upcoming work as well. In 2026, Disha has featured in a cameo in O’ Romeo and is part of the ensemble cast of Welcome to the Jungle. She is also associated with Awarapan 2, adding another project to a filmography that continues to span different genres and formats.
From being introduced to audiences through a biographical sports drama to taking on action roles and appearing in ambitious big-screen projects, Disha’s decade in Bollywood has been marked by constant reinvention. As she enters the next phase of her career, her focus appears to remain the same—exploring new characters without allowing any single image to define her.
