Bhumi Pednekar Joins *The Pride of Bharat* as Warrior Queen Belawadi Mallamma

Expanding its ensemble with another prominent name, *The Pride of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj* has welcomed Bhumi Pednekar to its cast. The historical epic, led by Rishab Shetty in the role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, continues to generate anticipation as it brings together a strong lineup of actors to depict an important chapter in Indian history. Bhumi will portray the legendary warrior queen Belawadi Mallamma, a celebrated historical figure from Karnataka.
Expressing her excitement about the project, Bhumi said she feels deeply honoured to be part of a film that celebrates the life and legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. She shared that portraying Belawadi Mallamma is both a privilege and a responsibility, adding that she immediately agreed to the film after hearing director Sandeep Singh narrate the story. **"When Sandeep Singh narrated the story, I instantly okayed it. The film is unlike anything I have done before, and I am grateful to the filmmakers for giving me the opportunity to be part of a film of this scale."** She also praised Rishab Shetty's work in the *Kantara franchise and said she is looking forward to sharing screen space with him.
Belawadi Mallamma is remembered as a fearless 17th-century warrior queen from Belawadi in present-day Karnataka, known for her courage and leadership during a period of political unrest in the Deccan region. The film, directed by Sandeep Singh, also stars Arjun Rampal and Vivek Oberoi and will chronicle the rise of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and the establishment of the Maratha Empire through his vision and military strategy.
Written by Rishi Virmani, the two-part historical drama is expected to begin production later this year. National Award-winning composer Amit Trivedi has been entrusted with the music, while acclaimed lyricist Prasoon Joshi will pen the songs. With its expanding cast and focus on significant historical figures, the film aims to bring an inspiring chapter of Indian history to the big screen on a grand scale.
