The conflict between the United States and Iran has taken another serious turn, with fresh casualties and continued military action underscoring the growing instability across the Middle East. The latest developments highlight the rising human cost of the ongoing confrontation while pushing hopes of a diplomatic solution even further out of reach.

According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), two American service members were killed in Jordan on Friday while defending against a large-scale barrage of Iranian ballistic missiles and drones. The incident raises the total number of US service members killed since the war began to 16, while more than 430 have been wounded. The Pentagon said four additional personnel were evacuated to hospitals in Jordan and have since been discharged, while others treated for minor injuries have already returned to duty. CENTCOM also confirmed that one service member remains missing and said the identities of those killed will be released only after their families have been formally notified.

The military update came as Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei issued a fresh warning to the United States. In a statement posted on X, he said that the Iranian nation and the axis of resistance had unforgettable lessons to offer the "American enemy" now that it sought to incite war and bear its consequences. He also described an agreement bearing US President Donald Trump's signature as "worthless and invalid."

Meanwhile, the United States said it carried out its seventh consecutive night of strikes, targeting surveillance sites, military logistics infrastructure, underground weapons storage facilities and maritime capabilities inside Iran. Tehran responded by launching attacks on US military sites in Kuwait, Iraq, Bahrain, Jordan and Saudi Arabia, with the most significant reported damage occurring in Kuwait, where a water desalination plant and an oil facility were hit. The continued exchange of attacks reflects the deepening crisis and signals that tensions in the region remain far from easing.
