Seed Cycling Gains Attention as Natural Approach to Support Women’s Hormonal Health

New Delhi | 28 March 2026

A growing number of health experts are highlighting the benefits of “seed cycling,” a simple dietary practice that aligns nutrition with different phases of the menstrual cycle to support hormonal balance. According to nutritionist Deepsikha Jain, this approach uses everyday seeds as natural sources of essential nutrients that may help regulate hormonal fluctuations and improve overall reproductive health.

Seed cycling is based on the natural hormonal shifts that occur throughout the menstrual cycle. During the first half, known as the follicular phase, oestrogen levels gradually rise. To support this phase, experts recommend consuming a combination of pumpkin seeds and flaxseeds. These seeds are rich in phytoestrogens and magnesium, nutrients believed to help promote healthy oestrogen levels and maintain stable energy during this period.

In the second half of the cycle, known as the luteal phase, progesterone becomes the dominant hormone. During this time, the recommended combination shifts to sesame seeds and sunflower seeds. These seeds are known to contain vitamin E and other nutrients that may support progesterone production, strengthen the uterine lining, and help the body prepare for the next menstrual cycle.

While seed cycling is not a medical treatment, experts suggest it can be a helpful, natural addition to a balanced diet for women looking to better understand and support their hormonal health. As interest in holistic and nutrition-based wellness continues to grow, such practices are gaining popularity for their simplicity and potential long-term  Seed Cycling Gains Attention as Natural Approach to Support Women’s Hormonal Health
