Noida International Airport Phase I Inaugurated, Seen as Major Boost to Uttar Pradesh’s Growth

Noida | 28 March 2026

The first phase of the Noida International Airport at Jewar was inaugurated on Saturday, marking a significant milestone in Uttar Pradesh’s infrastructure development. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath described the project as a turning point for the state, calling it a “runway for development” that will open new avenues of growth, connectivity, and opportunity.

The project, developed at an estimated cost of ₹11,200 crore under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, aims to strengthen India’s aviation network. Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the inauguration, with state leaders highlighting his role in advancing large-scale infrastructure projects across the country.

According to officials, the airport is designed to serve as a major international gateway for the National Capital Region (NCR). It is expected to complement the existing Indira Gandhi International Airport, helping reduce congestion while increasing passenger capacity and improving both domestic and global connectivity.

Leaders noted that the project will generate employment, support local businesses, and accelerate regional economic development. The airport is also seen as a key step in positioning the Delhi-NCR region among the world’s leading aviation hubs, while offering new opportunities for youth and strengthening the state’s overall growth trajectory.
