South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has arrived in New Delhi ahead of the 18th BRICS Summit, which begins tomorrow. His arrival adds to the high-level diplomatic activity in the capital as India prepares to host the major gathering of BRICS partners.

Union Minister Jayant Singh received Ramaphosa at the airport. His visit also highlights the longstanding relationship between India and South Africa, particularly their cooperation within the BRICS grouping.

The Ministry of External Affairs said, “India and South Africa share warm and historic ties, anchored in a Strategic Partnership.” It added that the two countries remain firmly committed, as BRICS partners, to advancing the interests and aspirations of the Global South.

Ramaphosa’s presence is expected to further reinforce India-South Africa engagement at the summit, with both countries continuing to work together on issues linked to the priorities and aspirations of the Global South.
