Jaipur Villagers Reject Political Link in CJP School Clash

New Delhi, August 21, 2026

A confrontation over a government primary school in Jaipur’s Bagru Assembly constituency has sparked a political dispute, with villagers of Rampura Kanwarpura rejecting claims that the BJP was behind their clash with Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) members. The villagers said they acted independently to protect the school, where local children study, as funds for its repair have already been approved.

Local resident Anu Sharma said the villagers had no political connection with the BJP and opposed those they believed wanted to demolish the school. “We are villagers, not from the BJP. Our children study here, so we opposed those who wanted to demolish the school,” she said. According to Sharma, around 20-25 children are currently attending classes in a cattle shelter, while some others are studying in people’s houses until the approved renovation work is completed. “CJP members are trying to demolish it. There are small children from our locality. Around 20-25 children come here; where will they go to study?” she said.

The confrontation took place on Friday morning, August 21, when a group of CJP members arrived in Rampura Kanwarpura to inspect the government primary school, with party co-convener Ashutosh Ranka also expected to join the visit. Villagers gathered near the main approach road, checked vehicles entering the area and staged a sit-in outside the school. Tensions escalated as villagers physically pushed and chased the CJP members away, alleging that they had come to damage the building despite repair funds already being sanctioned. Sharma also said a scuffle took place involving two women who had accompanied the group. “We fought. Two women came here, so we got into a fight with them. Nothing else happened,” she said.

The villagers have continued to deny any political involvement, maintaining that their actions were solely linked to concerns about the school and the education of their children. They said they had earlier asked the visitors not to come to the site, but the group still arrived. The residents remain firm that their priority is to ensure the school is repaired as planned and that the children have a proper place to continue their education.
