India Targets $2 Trillion Exports by 2030

New Delhi, April 28, 2026

In a significant move to accelerate India’s global trade ambitions, Commerce and  Industry Minister Piyush Goyal chaired a high-level meeting with exporters following the India–New Zealand Free Trade Agreement. The discussion focused on strengthening export capabilities and aligning industry efforts with emerging global opportunities, bringing together key export bodies and government officials.

India’s total exports for FY 2025–26 have crossed $860 billion, reflecting steady growth over the previous year. This upward trend is being positioned as a strong foundation to achieve the ambitious $2 trillion export target by 2030. The minister urged exporters to fully leverage FTAs with developed nations to expand their global footprint.

Sectors such as engineering goods, electronics, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, gems and jewellery, and agriculture-based products continue to drive export performance. The meeting also emphasized boosting e-commerce exports, developing districts as export hubs, and strengthening digital trade infrastructure to enhance competitiveness.

With a clear focus on policy reforms and market expansion, the government is intensifying efforts to increase India’s share in global trade. The initiative highlights a coordinated push between policymakers and industry, signaling a determined path toward making India a major export powerhouse in the coming years.
