The government on Wednesday confirmed that no incidents involving Indian ships or seafarers have been reported in the past 24 hours, even as vessels continue to operate in the Persian Gulf amid global uncertainties. Officials stated that the situation remains under close watch, with all necessary measures in place to ensure safety and smooth operations.

At a joint inter-ministerial briefing, Rajesh Kumar Sinha from the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways said that 20 Indian-flagged vessels carrying around 540 Indian seafarers are currently active in the region and are safe. He added that private shipping companies are maintaining constant communication with their crews to ensure their well-being.

Authorities have also been actively responding to concerns, handling nearly 200 phone calls and 500 emails in the last 24 hours. During the same period, around 50 Indian seafarers were successfully brought back to the country. Officials further confirmed that port operations across India continue without disruption, with no congestion reported.

To support trade, relief measures have been introduced at major ports such as Jawaharlal Nehru Port, Kandla Port, Visakhapatnam Port and V.O. Chidambaranar Port, along with similar benefits at non-major ports. At Mundra Port, exporters have been offered incentives such as free storage and reduced charges. The government said it will continue to monitor maritime activity closely to ensure the safety of seafarers and uninterrupted trade.
