Woman Gang-Raped, Robbed at Bengaluru Home; Three Arrested, Two on the Run
Bengaluru | October 23, 2025
A horrifying crime has shaken Bengaluru Rural’s Gangondanahalli area after a woman from West Bengal was allegedly gang-raped and robbed late Tuesday night. Police said five men forced their way into the house between 9:15 pm and midnight, committing both sexual assault and theft before fleeing the scene.
According to officials, six people were present in the house at the time of the incident, including two other women, two adults, and two children. The ordeal came to light when the survivor’s elder son made a distress call to the police around 12:30 am. Responding promptly, senior officers and teams from the Bengaluru Rural Police reached the spot and began investigations.
“The accused not only sexually assaulted the woman but also stole two mobile phones and ₹25,000 in cash,” said Bengaluru Rural Superintendent of Police C.K. Baba. He confirmed that the survivor is currently safe and receiving care, adding that investigators are examining whether the accused had any prior acquaintance with her or her family.
Police sources said the accused and the survivor lived in the same locality, suggesting that the crime may have been premeditated. The attackers reportedly gained entry to the house by asking the residents to open the door before forcing themselves in.
Three of the five suspects have been identified and arrested. They have been named as Kartik, Glen, and Suoyg—all residents of the same area. The other two suspects remain at large, and teams have been deployed to track them down. A manhunt is currently underway in and around Bengaluru Rural district.
A special investigation team has been formed under the supervision of a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) to handle the case. The police have registered charges of gang-rape and robbery under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. Forensic experts have also been called in to assist with evidence collection from the crime scene.
“The investigation is progressing swiftly. We are confident the remaining accused will be apprehended soon,” SP Baba said, urging the public to maintain calm and allow the investigation to proceed without interference.
The case has sparked outrage among residents of the area, with locals demanding stricter safety measures and faster justice for the survivor. Authorities have increased patrolling in the neighborhood and are reviewing surveillance footage from nearby areas to trace the movements of the suspects.
As the investigation continues, police have assured that all five accused will be brought to justice. Meanwhile, support teams have been mobilized to provide psychological assistance and counseling to the survivor and her family.
The incident has once again raised serious concerns about women’s safety and law enforcement effectiveness in the region, highlighting the urgent need for stronger preventive mechanisms and community awareness.
