Ghaziabad | December 12, 2025Officials in Ghaziabad have confirmed that the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls is progressing in line with the revised schedule announced by the Election Commission of India (ECI) for Uttar Pradesh. As of December 11, about 59.4% of the collected forms have been digitised, and authorities remain confident of completing the process by the new deadline of December 26, with draft rolls set to be published on December 31, 2025.The SIR exercise is currently underway in five assembly segments: Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Loni, Modinagar, and Muradnagar. Lucknow | December 12, 2025Uttar Pradesh authorities have launched a major crackdown on the illegal distribution of codeine-based cough syrup, filing criminal cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for the first time. The move comes after a months-long investigation that exposed an extensive network of suppliers and super stockists operating illegally across the state.The Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) identified 133 firms in 31 districts linked to the illegal diversion of codeine syrup. Noida, December 10, 2025: The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) is taking strict action against real estate developers who have failed to pay dues under the state government’s rehabilitation and stalled-projects policy. The move is aimed at reviving stalled projects and ensuring timely completion of housing units, while recovering pending amounts from defaulting builders.GNIDA has hired consultancy firm Currie and Brown to conduct physical and drone surveys of projects to assess construction progress and identify pending work.
